Dogs
NOTE: as of March 17, 2020, our shelter is closed to the general public to help reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus. However, we are still processing adoptions with some important guidelines: we will accept applications and conduct phone interviews but we will NOT be able to hold meet-and-greets as we cannot practice proper social distancing. Applicants must understand that we will have to wait and see when we can resume meet-and-greets for dogs.

Boston is a rambunctious young dog who is looking for a fresh start in life. He is a lot of dog so we are looking for an experienced adult-only, solo-pet home for this boy.
Boston has a very silly side; he loves to play with toys and run around the play yard. He is very hard on his toys and has actually ingested a toy while here, which resulted in an abdominal surgery! So only very tough, durable toys for this guy.
Boston has some typical naughty adolescent behaviour like mouthing and jumping up. He can also be a bit insecure and anxious, so he will definitely benefit from force-free, fun training to help him be the best dog he can be. He gets amped up with too much stimuli, so we are working on keeping him calm and redirecting to appropriate behaviours.
It is difficult to determine his level of house-training in a kennel environment, but he is definitely improving with the routine.
He can be unsure around new people and may bark at them to mask his fear. Gradual introductions from a comfortable distance will help. While Boston appears to like being near some of the shelter dogs, when he has played with another dog, he got too excited, became rude and even aggressive. For safety reasons, he will not be placed in a home with other animals, nor will be suitable for off-leash dog parks.
Boston is a Cane Corso, but we are not sure if he has other breeds mixed in. He is approximately 2 years old.
